TURNING OF A PINION

As shown in the machining cycle, with machines that can provide a pressure on tailstock side over kg.1000, even turning with 2 tools working simultaneously, with very high cutting parameters, can be carried out.

This machining is very interesting because it is shown how so special components can be machined with the face driver with no need to study special clamping solutions and machining cycles surely less convenient than machining with the face driver in one set up.

TURNING OF PINION AFTER HARDENING

In these last years, request for hard turning operation is increased. With the face driver with fixed center this operation, that replaces grinding operation and that requires very strict tolerances after finishing, can be carried out.

With the face driver with fixed center in fact, a perfect concentricity and rigidity can be obtained; then, the hard metal driving pins fitted in the face driver, ensure an optimum clamping even on steel hardened up to 63 HRC.

New live centers “2008 serie” have been designed to work with this face driver; they guarantee a very high accuracy and rigidity and are suitable to reach tolerances similar to ones obtained in grinding.

TURNING OF GEAR CASE

After centering, facing and machining of the holes, the component is machined on centers with the face driver and the live center in a single set up.

With this type of machining, all machined parts will be perfectly concentric to holes and centers machined before. Worked material: cast iron.
